Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer Kim Soo Hyun is an established dancer who elevates the depth and completeness of Korean dance by drawing audiences into communication and immersion through condensed energy and movements that capture sinmyeong (divine inspiration) and excitement in the deep inner breath and the connection between inhalation and exhalation, filling the stage with complete immersion that embodies the soul.

Encompassing a diverse spectrum, Kim Soo Hyun demonstrates broad strengths based on the profound colors and robust energy of traditional Korean dance's long breathing techniques. Her work ranges from humorous dance filled with the aesthetics of reversal and humor, to theatrical choreography. With her unique specialty of "You can laugh at dance performances too!", Kim Soo Hyun utilizes humor as a core element of audience immersion. As a choreographer exceptional in prop utilization, she keenly captures the everyday lives of ordinary people, skillfully weaving wit and pathos within to naturally and definitively deliver intriguing reversals to general audiences.

Through Korean dance movements imbued with deep insight and creative imagination about her works, she actively communicates with contemporary audiences. Her diverse choreographic sensibilities that transform according to regional themes will elevate cultural sentiment and enhance empathy with Daejeon citizens through distinctive works representing Daejeon Metropolitan City.

She assumed the position of 9th Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer of Daejeon Metropolitan Dance Theater in August 2025.
